Reg Palmer, the Principal of Adelaide Hills/Murray Lands Education Centres has dedicated his professional life to teaching for over 40 years.

From one teacher schools in the bush (with 7 grades in one room), to Demonstration Teacher to show student teachers how to teach at all year levels, to Deputy Principal and Principal of Primary Schools throughout South Australia.

During the 1970’s, Reg was instrumental in introducing methodologies and resources to cater for all needs in Reading and Literacy.

A foundation member and first Secretary of the Australian Reading Association in Adelaide, Reg was awarded a Scholarship from the South Australian Government. He took a Master’s Degree in Reading and Language at the University of Oregon, USA.

Reg left the SA Education Department in the early 90’s to commence his business in Tutoring students. He has been successful in teaching students to read – spell – write all forms of our language, and Mathematics to Year 11 Math Applications.

He has firmly-held beliefs in the effectiveness of Professional Tutoring that is presented in a one-to-one situation. He has developed these programs and materials based on task-analysis principles. His definition of a Professional Tutor is a person who is experienced in appropriate methods of instruction and pursues the instruction with scholastic rigour, who has professional qualifications and who knows the scope of the basic subjects for all years and who can bond with students who have special needs.

Reg Palmer’s Centres offer a proven approach to learning that focuses on motivating the student, and building self-confidence. Success for each student comes about when we combine professional and caring tutors with effective teaching methods.
